PickleballTrue

Privacy Policy

Updated

Effective date: 2026-10-14

This policy explains what information PickleballTrue (pickleballtrue.com, "the site", "we") collects when you read it, how that information is used, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and honest. If anything is unclear, write to [email protected].

The short version

  • You do not need an account to read PickleballTrue, and we do not ask for your name or email to read anything.
  • Our own servers keep standard access logs for a limited time, for security and troubleshooting.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand which articles are read, and Google AdSense to show advertising. Both set cookies. You can opt out of personalised advertising, and readers in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before advertising cookies are used.
  • Below articles we show sponsored links served by MGID, which also sets cookies. See the MGID section below.
  • We do not sell personal information.

Information we collect ourselves

Server logs. Like almost every website, our web server records each request: the page requested, the date and time, your IP address, your browser type and the page that linked to us. We use these logs to keep the site running, to detect abuse and to fix errors. Logs are rotated automatically and kept for a limited period only.

Theme preference. If you switch between the dark and light theme, the choice is stored in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your browser and we cannot read it.

Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of corrections. We do not add you to any mailing list — we do not have one.

Visit statistics. We count visits with our own simple statistics, without cookies. When a page opens, your browser tells our server which page you are reading, the website that linked to it, your type of device and how long the page stayed on screen. Your country comes from our network provider (Cloudflare). We do not store your IP address: to tell visits apart we keep only a code made from it together with a random value that changes every day and is then deleted, so we cannot recognise you on another day or work out who you are. Readers who turn on "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control are not counted.

Cookies and third-party services

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people read each article, which pages they arrive from and roughly where readers are. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) and processes your IP address and browser information on Google's servers. We have not enabled advertising features in Analytics and we do not upload any personal data to it. You can prevent Analytics from running with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

PickleballTrue shows advertising served by Google AdSense. To do this:

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites on the internet.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of many third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, at www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Google's own policy describes in more detail how it uses data when you use its partners' sites: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

MGID

Below articles, PickleballTrue shows sponsored links served by MGID, a native advertising network. The block is marked as advertising. To select and measure these ads, MGID and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies, and process information such as your IP address, your device and browser type and the pages you view. The MGID Privacy Notice describes how MGID handles this data, how to contact MGID about it, and how to opt out of its personalised advertising — including through www.aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.

Google Fonts

Article text uses fonts loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, which receive your IP address as part of that request. No cookies are set by this service.

Amazon Associates

Pages in our Paddle Library and Shoe Library have buttons that lead to Amazon. A click first goes through our own short link, which adds 1 to that product's click count without recording who you are, and then takes you to Amazon with our Associates tag. On Amazon, Amazon may set its own cookies to credit the referral; that is covered by Amazon's privacy notice. Amazon does not send us any personal information about you — we only see anonymous totals of qualifying purchases.

If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message from Google's certified consent management platform is shown before any advertising cookies are used. You can accept, refuse, or choose per purpose, and you can change your choice later through the same message. If you refuse, you may still see advertising, but it will not be personalised.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to receive a copy of it. For data held by Google (Analytics and AdSense), please use the Google links above; for anything held by us (in practice, email you have sent us and short-lived server logs), write to [email protected]. We will answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising in the sense of the California Consumer Privacy Act, other than through the advertising cookies described above, which you can opt out of.

Children

PickleballTrue is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security and retention

The site is served over HTTPS only. Server logs are rotated automatically; email correspondence is kept only as long as it is needed for the purpose you wrote to us about.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles data — for example by adding a newsletter — we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted on the About page.
